who we are

Our mission

5B Anglers seeks to create a fun, positive, supportive, and inclusive environment on and off the water through educational outreach, local conservation, outings, and projects.

Founded in 2021 by a group of Blaine County anglers, guides, and curious newcomers, 5B Anglers was born from a shared love of fly fishing and a deep commitment to our local waters. We exist to connect our community through angling education, hands-on conservation, and inclusive gatherings both on and off the water.

Our goal is simple: to create a space where anglers of all backgrounds can come together, learn from one another, and help sustain the fisheries we all love.

In short, we're here to fish smarter — together.

our values

At 5B Anglers, we believe that fly fishing is more than a pastime — it's a pathway to stewardship, community, and connection. Based in Idaho’s Wood River Valley, we are a community-driven nonprofit working to make fly fishing more inclusive, informed, and impactful. Through local conservation efforts, education programs, and community outreach, we work to protect our waters and expand access to those who care about them.

Our work is guided by five core values that shape everything we do:

  • Provide our future generations with fishable water.

We advocate for long-term, science-based stewardship of our rivers and fisheries. Whether it’s through etiquette education, catch-and-release awareness, or reducing our impact on sensitive ecosystems, we work to ensure our waters stay healthy, fishable, and thriving for years to come.

  • Lead with community, volunteerism, and conservation efforts.

Our board members and volunteers donate hundreds of hours each year to hands-on work — from roadside cleanups to educational events and youth programming. We serve because we care deeply about the places we fish, the people we fish with, and the next generation of anglers coming up behind us.

  • Protect and respect our local ecosystem.

From water quality to wildlife habitat, the ecosystems we depend on need protection and care. We promote river-friendly practices, support restoration efforts, and educate anglers on how to tread lightly while enjoying the outdoors.

  • Champion equitable, informed access to Idaho’s waters.

We believe everyone deserves access to clean, fishable waters — regardless of language, income, background, or experience level. We offer free memberships, bilingual resources, and sponsored spots at our events so that cost or language is never a barrier to participation.

  • Empower anglers to make informed, responsible choices.

Through classes, translated resources, river etiquette campaigns, and more, we share the knowledge anglers need to fish responsibly and respectfully. We believe informed anglers are the most powerful stewards our rivers can have.
